Last to Leave? Lights Out, Please!

Lighting makes up approximately 10% of hospitals' energy use on average. I will save energy by turning off unnecessary lights when not in use and when I am the last one to leave a space.

I will replace 1 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

At Home

Needs Vs. Wants

I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.

COMPLETED 7
DAILY ACTIONS

At Work

Prevent Recycling Contamination

Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 3 minutes learning about which items are recyclable both at my workplace and at home since they may be different, and recycle only those items.

At Home Compost Reimbursement

Check out Espresa's Platform-- did you know you can get reimbursed for at home composting? Composting reduces GHG emissions by as much as 70% vs landfilling organic waste.

I've been lucky enough to work with a great group of volunteers who've shown me how to take caps from medications and make them into beautiful murals! I took this learning to my nephew this weekend and made toilet paper roll race car tracks! Fun and reuse!

Thank you for heading up our team, Mike! I like the daily impact graphics by individual and team, makes the importance of little efforts more apparent.
