Ursula's actions
At Home
Brush My Teeth Without Water Running
I will save up to 4 gallons (15 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
At Home
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
At Home
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
At Home
Dishwasher Efficiency
Hand washing dishes can use more energy and hot water than running a full dishwasher. To save water, I will scrape instead of rinsing dishes before loading them into the dishwasher, and only run it when it is full.
At Home
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.
At Home
Indoor Air Quality
I will spend 30 minutes learning about how indoor air quality impacts health and commit to taking one action to improve indoor air quality in my living space.

Ursula Brock 4/29/2025 12:57 PMMy ecochallenge is a challenge but it a rather fun way...It makes me so aware of the water that is wasted, especially brushing teeth. It takes time and it is possible. I want to keep this habit going. Reducing water is something on my mind. -
Ursula Brock 4/29/2025 12:52 PMI am doing this to be aware of my routines and be mindful. The one that I am hoping for is not using the water when brushing teeth and be very mindful about hand washing as well as be better with watering the plants. I am trying to conserve as much water as possible. I am thinking of getting a bigger tub in my sink so I can use the water and use more in the garden instead of drain. It is all about being mindful and doing simple things that make a difference and have fun with this project.
