Something learned from an eco-friendly person years ago was to try shopping only the "outside" or perimeter of the grocery store, By doing this you purchase less processed food because you are not going down the aisles that are packed with processed, packaged/convenient items. The perimeter is mostly produce, meats, dairy and eggs. It is not only better for you because you are cooking from scratch, but most of it has less packaging.
