At Home
Brush My Teeth Without Water Running
I will save up to 4 gallons (15 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
At Home
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
One Healthcare
Use A Reusable Mug/Bottle
I will keep 1 disposable cup(s) and/or bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle, cup, or mug.
At Home

I will Practice the "5 Rs" — refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle — to reduce my waste more than I can with just recycling alone.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Home Switch to Cold WaterHow else can you reduce the environmental footprint of clothing and textiles?
-
Kristi Clardy 4/11/2024 5:55 AMI really like to donate unused clothing that my family no longer needs to local clothing closets within the community so that they don't go to the landfill.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Home Brush My Teeth Without Water RunningDo you live in an area that is water secure or with water scarcity? What other actions do you take to use water more efficiently?
Heather Gentry 4/10/2024 8:12 AMNo, I don't have water scarcity. I use appliances that are made to use less water, like the dishwasher and washer. I could also collect rainwater to water plants in the summer.-
Nicole Kreimer 4/10/2024 12:40 PMGreat job! We are lucky here to not have drought concerns, but I know that is definitely an issue in some places. Rainwater is a great option though for water conservation!

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Home Practice the 5 r'sWhich of the 5 R's was easiest for you? Which was the most difficult? How did practicing the 5 R's help you reduce more waste than recycling alone?
Heather Gentry 4/10/2024 8:10 AMReusing is hard sometimes, because you have to carry it with you all day. Like my water jug around with me, but it is cheaper and better for the environment.
