Julie's actions
In Our Communities
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 3 piece(s) of litter each day.
At Home
Learn the Truth about Expiration Dates
I will spend at least 15 minutes learning how to differentiate between sell by, use by, and best by dates.
At Home
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.
Health & Well-being
Taking Steps to Promote Well-being
I will increase my step count by 50 each day and will take breaks from sitting by briefly getting up and moving once per hour during the day.
At Work
Use Reusables at Work
I will keep 10 forks, spoons, and/or knives from entering the landfill by using reusable utensils when eating at work.
In Our Communities
Donate Items
I will help others in need and prevent useful items from going to landfill by donating 10 items.
One Healthcare
Donate Blood
I will donate blood in my community to make sure there are adequate supplies for routine medical services and emergencies.
At Work
Prevent Recycling Contamination
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 30 minutes learning about which items are recyclable both at my workplace and at home since they may be different, and recycle only those items.
One Healthcare
Sustainable Healthcare
I will attend or watch a recording of a webinar 30 minutes long covering one or more healthcare sustainability issues.
Health & Well-being
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 45 minute(s) each day.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Julie Gosselin 4/30/2024 6:24 AMI made the effort to be more aware during my daily walks. I started bringing an extra bag to place discarded items in it so I could collect more than the minimum. As a result, on average, I ended up walking further in an effort to clean up more spaces.-
Melissa Ondricek 4/30/2024 8:44 AMKeep up the great work! Every little bit helps. :)

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Work Use Reusables at WorkWhile one's plastic cutlery is a seemingly very small part of someone's "plastic impact", why do you think it's important for us to address this opportunity to reduce?
Julie Gosselin 4/15/2024 9:55 AMIt is a simple task to bring reusable cutlery to work when we pack our mid-day meal. Every little bit we can do to reduce landfills is a step in the right direction.
