Amy's actions
At Home
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
One Healthcare
Green Gratitude
I will recognize 3 colleague(s) for their sustainability efforts by thanking them on our team feed, in-person, by email, and/or through my organization's recognition platforms.
In Our Communities
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will purchase produce and/or meat from a local farmers market or food co-op to make 2 locally-sourced meals.
One Healthcare
Use A Reusable Mug/Bottle
I will keep 10 disposable cup(s) and/or bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle, cup, or mug.
Health & Well-being
Healthy Hydration
I will improve hydration by drinking an additional 24oz of water each day. I will do this by drinking additional servings of water or by drinking water in place of other less healthy beverage options.
At Home
Whole Foods Diet
I will enjoy 2 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.
At Work
Use Reusables at Work
I will keep 10 forks, spoons, and/or knives from entering the landfill by using reusable utensils when eating at work.
One Healthcare
Environmental Footprint of Healthcare
I will spend 20 minutes learning about the environmental footprint of the healthcare industry, how it impacts health, and ways I can help reduce it.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONOne Healthcare Use A Reusable Mug/BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Amy Jansen 4/01/2024 9:09 AMIt's hard to say how many bottles I save each day. I drink lots of water, and almost never use bottled water. We're lucky to live in a region with plenty of good drinking water!

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Home Needs Vs. WantsHow is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?
Amy Jansen 4/01/2024 9:07 AMI write a weekly menu for meals at home, and shop for those items I need for the recipes only. I avoid snacks and other extra items by following my list.
