Jen's actions
At Home
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
At Home
Dishwasher Efficiency
Hand washing dishes can use more energy and hot water than running a full dishwasher. To save water, I will scrape instead of rinsing dishes before loading them into the dishwasher, and only run it when it is full.
At Work
Greener Purchasing
I will select a greener option when purchasing supplies, such as products that have environmental certifications, less packaging, or other environmental attributes, or come from local vendors.
Health & Well-being
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 1 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
At Home
Practice the 5 r's
I will Practice the "5 Rs" — refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle — to reduce my waste more than I can with just recycling alone.
At Work
Quality Improvement
I commit to dedicating 10 minutes to exploring my organization's quality improvement resources and examining how quality improvement methodologies can support sustainability projects.
At Home
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.
At Work
Greenwashing
I will spend 5 minutes learning about greenwashing and how to avoid it.
At Work
Go Paperless
I will avoid printing 2 pieces of paper by "going digital" and printing double-sided whenever possible.
At Home
Choose Clean/Renewable Energy
I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option.
At Home
Shorter Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Jen Lebrecht 4/16/2025 7:39 AMMy one healthcare challenge isn't going as well as I would like it to, I wish I had more time to commit to being engaged w/ the challenge, I honestly didn't even get to check but twice. One thought I did have today though: I like that the challenge is called one healthcare, connecting healthcare communities, instead of having only my organization.-
Roxanne Miner 4/16/2025 8:34 AMWe all are busy but even checking in a couple times a week makes a difference. We can continue our actions even if we can't check in. -
Tamara Severtson 4/16/2025 8:12 AMEngaging here is so good! I think you can also check-in for a few days before the actual day in case we forget. It doesn't go back to the very beginning, but it does let us add a couple of days at once.

It is okay if you do not check in regularly. All any of us can do is our best. I also like that it is multiple organizations. Thank you for sharing!
