Christina's actions
One Healthcare
Use A Reusable Mug/Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable cup(s) and/or bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle, cup, or mug.
Health & Well-being
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 30 minute(s) each day.
Health & Well-being
Healthy Hydration
I will improve hydration by drinking an additional 20oz of water each day. I will do this by drinking additional servings of water or by drinking water in place of other less healthy beverage options.
In Our Communities
Donate Items
I will help others in need and prevent useful items from going to landfill by donating 5 items.
At Work
Last to Leave? Lights Out, Please!
Lighting makes up approximately 10% of hospitals' energy use on average. I will save energy by turning off unnecessary lights when not in use and when I am the last one to leave a space.
Health & Well-being
Taking Steps to Promote Well-being
I will increase my step count by 500 each day and will take breaks from sitting by briefly getting up and moving once per hour during the day.
At Work
Turn It Off
I will turn my computer monitor(s) off at my work station when not in use to save energy (I will follow my organization's IT instructions for keeping on, turning off, or restarting computers).
At Home
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
At Home
Choose LED Bulbs
I will replace 2 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
At Work
Greener Purchasing
I will select a greener option when purchasing supplies, such as products that have environmental certifications, less packaging, or other environmental attributes, or come from local vendors.
At Work
Prevent Recycling Contamination
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 60 minutes learning about which items are recyclable both at my workplace and at home since they may be different, and recycle only those items.
Health & Well-being
Go Get a Check Up
I will make 1 appointments to support my health and well-being (primary care provider, dental, vision, etc.)
Health & Well-being
Learn About Constructive Communication
I will spend 30 minute(s) learning about constructive communication.
One Healthcare
Donate Blood
I will donate blood in my community to make sure there are adequate supplies for routine medical services and emergencies.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Work Prevent Recycling ContaminationWhat have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?
Christina Moran (PHMG-B'ham) 4/17/2024 10:24 AMRecycling at home has been fairly straightforward to me, however, the most difficult part is to haul the recycling for drop off due to how far away I live from town. We try to keep it down to once a month as to reduce our carbon footprint-
Barbara Hamilton 4/17/2024 10:40 AMThanks for your dedication, Christina. Every small action matters.
