My husband and I ate at a restaurant on Friday evening that serves locally grown/raised food and makes sustainability a priority. Very happy to support this type of business!

Making homemade chicken stock is easy and a great way to use up food 'scraps' that may have otherwise gone straight into the compost bin.

Hi Bethany - I have not yet tried it with only vegetables yet. Let me know how it turns out!

Have you ever done this with just vegetables--made a vegetable broth?! I saw someone on Facebook doing this and I wanted to give it a try so I have been saving up all of the 'scraps' from my veggies in the freezer until I am ready to try it!

Was excited to see that my local grocery store, in addition to reusable shopping bags for purchase, they now stock reusable produce bags for purchase.

    At Home Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

    Renee Nicolet's avatar
    Renee Nicolet 4/18/2024 9:34 AM
Creative thinking is a means to discovering ways to living a simpler life, to allow oneself to step away from the current norm of a fast paced, stressful life and envision and test out new habits.

In addition to reusable containers and silverware that I bring to work with me for lunches, I also am bringing cloth napkins.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
One Healthcare Use A Reusable Mug/Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

I prefer to use reusuable bottles and tap water and the use of Yeti mugs that keep water cold longer has helped me to make this a daily habit at work.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Well-being Mindfulness / Meditation Practice
What best helped you with your mindfulness or meditation practice? Did the practice become easier over time?

Journaling and zentangle are ways that help me have a mindfulness practice.
