Beth's actions
At Home
Minutes spent exercising
my goal is 30+ minutes a day cardio, at least two days a week weight training
At Home
Plastic Bottles Not Sent to Landfill
I always take my reusable water bottle when leaving home so I don't have to purchase bottled water and add that to landfill
At Home
Time Spent Outdoors
getting outside into nature
At Home
Meatless or Vegan Meal Consumer
the impact on land and CO2 in the air related to cattle and other animal production for consumption is substantial. I avoid, particularly, beef product consumption and limit consumption of other animal protein
At Home
Disposable Cups Not Sent to Landfill
I always take my reusable coffee mug when going to coffee shop to avoid using single-use cups
At Work
Last to Leave? Lights Out, Please!
Lighting makes up approximately 10% of hospitals' energy use on average. I will save energy by turning off unnecessary lights when not in use and when I am the last one to leave a space.
In Our Communities
Volunteer in My Community
I will volunteer 8 hour(s) in my community during the challenge.
In Our Communities
Support Diverse and Locally-Owned Businesses
I will promote equity and support my community by purchasing items at 10 diverse- and/or locally-owned businesses.
At Home
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.
Health & Well-being
Creative Expression
I will reflect on how I am feeling and express myself through writing, art, music, physical activity, or another creative way to enhance well-being
One Healthcare
One Healthcare Ecochallenge Survey
Your voice matters! Help us improve the One Healthcare Ecochallenge by taking our survey, available starting April 23rd.
In Our Communities
Donate Items
I will help others in need and prevent useful items from going to landfill by donating 10 items.
At Home
Recycle Glass/ Paper/ Metal/ Plastic
I take advantage of the city-wide recycling program, as well as pay for adjunct plastic recycling program Ridwell
In Our Communities
Use Reusable Bags
I will refuse 1 of single-use paper or plastic bags each day by bringing my own reusable bags or carrying purchased goods another way.
At Home
Dishwasher Efficiency
Hand washing dishes can use more energy and hot water than running a full dishwasher. To save water, I will scrape instead of rinsing dishes before loading them into the dishwasher, and only run it when it is full.
In Our Communities
Support Locally Owned/ Operated Business in my Community
take my business to small, locally owned businesses
At Home
Adjust Thermostat
I have been setting the thermostat, daily, two degrees lower than I normally do and add clothing layers instead
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?
