I would like to encourage everyone to listen to one or more of the webinars in the Climate-Smart Health Care Series organized by our colleagues from the Global Consortium on Climate and Health Education at Columbia University and Health Care Without Harm US (you can also listen to past recordings). They are very informative on different topics related to healthcare and sustainability/climate change.

Green Gratitude post: Today, I'd like to thank all the people who play a role, big or small, in WCM sustainability's effort.
First of all, I'd like to thank my boss Angela Mu, Associate Director of Energy & Sustainability, and Mike Murphy, Senior Director of FMCO. Without them, the Office of Energy & Sustainability would not exist. My colleagues Akhil Soman and Filipp Alaverdyan who work hard on energy conservation projects on our campus.
Then I'd like to thank all those people who invest their time and energy working on sustainability initiatives even if sustainability is not in their job title. To mention a few:
Matt Domser, cofounder of the Green Labs Program.
Juan Rodrigues Alcazar who is the leader of the Postdoc Green Initiative.
Sandra Cohen who brings lab recycling to the next level going through her lab's trash and sorting all recycling properly (including Polycarbin and Corning takeback programs).
Dr. Deirdre Kelleher who cofounded the PeriOp Sustainability group.
Dr. Daniel Margolis, Dr. Elizabeth Echt for the Radiology Sustainability Initiative.

These are just a few names that come to mind, but there are more. Feel free to add the names of people who should be recognized for their sustainability efforts in the comments or on a different Green Gratitude post.

For those who want to learn about Recycling at work, here is our website page on recycling https://sustainability.weill.cornell.edu/waste-recycling.
In the image below you can find the most common recycling mistakes. The worst mistake is to put food and liquid residues in the recycling. This contaminates the entire bag of recycling. Make sure that the material you place in the recycling is pretty clean (minimal food and liquid residues are acceptable).
Please contact the Office of Energy and Sustainability if you have any questions or feedback on the website (like information missing that you think should be there).

I donate blood to save lives. It's pretty easy and painless. After donating I feel good because I know I helped someone. And they give you free snacks ;)

Hello team Weill Cornell Medicine. Thank you to all of you for joining us in the second One Healthcare Ecochallenge. Thank you to Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and Peace Health for creating this challenge, which will start in just a few days, on April 1st!

Ecochallenges are all about committing to sustainable actions — and consistently checking in to keep yourself and your team accountable. It's also about measuring our impact, and seeing just how phenomenal it can be when we all take action, together. Hopefully, you'll learn something new and have fun in the process!

    Good luck :)
