Erin's actions
At Work
2025 Pledge at Work
I pledge to take one action that improves the sustainability of my organization in 2025. It can be an action from this challenge or another action that improves resource stewardship.
At Work
Last to Leave? Lights Out, Please!
Lighting makes up approximately 10% of hospitals' energy use on average. I will save energy by turning off unnecessary lights when not in use and when I am the last one to leave a space.
At Work
Recycling Champion
I will recycle 10 items at work and/or at home each day, making sure I review recycling program guidelines and only place accepted items that are clean, empty, and dry in the recycling bin.
One Healthcare
Environmental Footprint of Healthcare
I will spend 10 minutes learning about the environmental footprint of the healthcare industry, how it impacts health, and ways I can help reduce it.
One Healthcare
Network for Change
I will make 2 new healthcare connections at my workplace or beyond to learn from my peers, share best practices, and see if there are opportunities for collaboration.
One Healthcare
Random Act of Kindness
I will promote a positive environment and uplift others by performing 2 random act(s) of kindness.
Health & Well-being
Reduce Refined Sugar
I will adopt a diet free of refined sugars, which eliminates sweetened beverages, candy, and processed foods.
At Work
Prevent Recycling Contamination
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 10 minutes learning about which items are recyclable both at my workplace and at home since they may be different, and recycle only those items.
At Work
Greener Purchasing
I will select a greener option when purchasing supplies, such as products that have environmental certifications, less packaging, or other environmental attributes, or come from local vendors.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Well-beingBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Erin Pitre 4/25/2025 10:12 AMBefore this challenge I did not think I was addicted to sugar. By giving up sweets, I noticed how much I crave them. -
Erin Pitre 4/21/2025 12:30 PMIt was such a beautiful weekend- my partner and I planted our container garden. We aren't the best gardeners, but it is fun trying to grow our own veggies!! This year we are trying jalapenos along with our yearly tomatoes, cucumbers, kale and lettuce.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt WorkWhen did you learn about recycling? Why is recycling important to you?
Erin Pitre 4/15/2025 7:08 AMI first learned about recycling when I was in high school (in the 1990s gasp!) We had a recycling club called the Green Grens!
Recycling is important to me because I am a nature lover and want to try to help preserve our planet for everyone to enjoy! -
Erin Pitre 4/13/2025 1:12 PMIn January, 2025 the cath lab started a Green Team. We are working towards improving the sustainability in the cardiac cath lab. Our first initiative is to improve capture of recyclables in the cath lab and CCR. We are aiming to launch our project mid May 2025. More to come!!-
