Kaeleigh's actions
Health & Well-being
Gratitude
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for every day.
Health & Well-being
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
At Home
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
At Home
Shorter Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
At Work
Last to Leave? Lights Out, Please!
Lighting makes up approximately 10% of hospitals' energy use on average. I will save energy by turning off unnecessary lights when not in use and when I am the last one to leave a space.
One Healthcare
Find My Climate Action
How can you personally help address climate change? Complete the climate action venn diagram at ayanaelizabeth.com/climatevenn and share your climate action in the feed.
In Our Communities
Support Local Wildlife
I will take one action to support local wildlife, such as adding a food or water source, creating shelter/habitat, preventing light pollution, eliminating bird strikes, or another action.
In Our Communities
Donate Items
I will help others in need and prevent useful items from going to landfill by donating 20 items.
At Home
Learn the Truth about Expiration Dates
I will spend at least 20 minutes learning how to differentiate between sell by, use by, and best by dates.
In Our Communities
Support Pollution Reduction
I will spend at least 30 minutes learning about water and air quality issues in my area, how they are impacting human and environmental health, and how I can help.
At Work
Quality Improvement
I commit to dedicating 20 minutes to exploring my organization's quality improvement resources and examining how quality improvement methodologies can support sustainability projects.

Kaeleigh Sheehan 4/30/2025 11:18 AMLast day last day!!! Add your actions and any reflections from this year's EcoChallenge! -
Kaeleigh Sheehan 4/28/2025 9:09 AMSomehow, I blinked and it's the last week of April and final few days of the EcoChallenge already. I missed a week when I was on vacation and forgot to check in. A few of the actions I plan to continue - shorter, colder showers. Emphasis on fruits and veggies. Daily gratitude reflection. And *trying* to maintain the needs vs wants mindset, limiting impulse buys. I like the month-long challenge, it helps the transition into a healthy habit.-
Susan Bevel-Dufresne 4/28/2025 12:43 PMI agree. It has flown by. I've thoroughly enjoyed the Ecochallenge and I've learned so much. I plan to continue recycling, using cold water when washing clothes, not running water when brushing teeth, full loads in dishwasher and washing machine, shopping locally, not burning candles, getting a Rainbarrel, more fruits and vegetables, less meat, less sugar and the list goes on and on.

Kaeleigh Sheehan 4/07/2025 9:58 AMCool to see ~120 gallons of water saved in a week by consciously taking shorter showers! Tip: using cold water helps you speed it up ;)
Make sure to check in every few days for those team points! -
Kaeleigh Sheehan 4/03/2025 11:08 AMOne of the prompts I picked this year is "Needs vs Wants" in an effort to slow down and more mindfully think if I really need something or am acting out of impulse, convenience, or bad habit (agh!). Reduce, reuse, recycle - lines up with the idea of 'upstream thinking' Kaitlin Walker has been sharing with the EOC division. I don't have to figure out where to put something or how to throw it out if I don't buy it in the first place. (And, my bank account thanks me too!).
