Richard's actions
One Healthcare
Explore the Feed
I will read the Ecochallenge feed each day and comment on posts by people who I don't know, but whose content inspires or interests me.
One Healthcare
Find My Climate Action
How can you personally help address climate change? Complete the climate action venn diagram at ayanaelizabeth.com/climatevenn and share your climate action in the feed.
One Healthcare
Donate Blood
I will donate blood in my community to make sure there are adequate supplies for routine medical services and emergencies.
At Work
Prevent Recycling Contamination
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 30 minutes learning about which items are recyclable both at my workplace and at home since they may be different, and recycle only those items.
At Work
Greenwashing
I will spend 10 minutes learning about greenwashing and how to avoid it.
At Work
2025 Pledge at Work
I pledge to take one action that improves the sustainability of my organization in 2025. It can be an action from this challenge or another action that improves resource stewardship.
At Work
Recycling Champion
I will recycle 8 items at work and/or at home each day, making sure I review recycling program guidelines and only place accepted items that are clean, empty, and dry in the recycling bin.
At Work
Use Reusables at Work
I will keep 8 forks, spoons, and/or knives from entering the landfill by using reusable utensils when eating at work.
At Work
Turn It Off
I will turn my computer monitor(s) off at my work station when not in use to save energy (I will follow my organization's IT instructions for keeping on, turning off, or restarting computers).
At Work
Go Paperless
I will avoid printing 20 pieces of paper by "going digital" and printing double-sided whenever possible.
At Work
Greener Purchasing
I will select a greener option when purchasing supplies, such as products that have environmental certifications, less packaging, or other environmental attributes, or come from local vendors.
At Work
Report a Leak
I will prevent water from being wasted by reporting one or more leaky faucets, toilets, or other water leaks to my organization's facilities team for repair.
In Our Communities
MAINE COMMUTER SURVEY
Support GoMaine by completing the Maine Commuter survey. The data helps inform commuting needs in our state. Follow the link to take the survey and be entered into a raffle for $50 gift certificate!
At Home
At Home Compost Reimbursement
Check out Espresa's Platform-- did you know you can get reimbursed for at home composting? Composting reduces GHG emissions by as much as 70% vs landfilling organic waste.
In Our Communities
Use Reusable Bags
I will refuse 1 of single-use paper or plastic bags each day by bringing my own reusable bags or carrying purchased goods another way.
In Our Communities
Support Local Wildlife
I will take one action to support local wildlife, such as adding a food or water source, creating shelter/habitat, preventing light pollution, eliminating bird strikes, or another action.
In Our Communities
Support a Sharing/Reuse Economy
I will create or support a sharing economy with family, friends, and neighbors, or purchase items second-hand to reduce resource use.
In Our Communities
Drive Less
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, or walking and biking instead.
In Our Communities
Donate Items
I will help others in need and prevent useful items from going to landfill by donating 5 items.
In Our Communities
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will purchase produce and/or meat from a local farmers market or food co-op to make 18 locally-sourced meals.
Participant Feed

On the impact of clothing and textiles - love older, broken in and well-used clothes! Old work dress shirts become painting/grubby chore shirts. Sew on patches where needed and keep those old clothes working for you!-
Wendy Long 4/09/2025 6:15 AM- Tech Enthusiast 💻
I have some comfortable old shirts that I use when gardening or doing chores. They will eventually become cleaning rags.

There are some really great reminders and ideas for new ways to reduce impact. -

I've got a few good habits that tend to reduce/ the amount of waste that I daily produce / I hope this challenge will give me a little more juice / to try some new ones ... and give the old ones a goose!-
Paul Goodenough 3/05/2025 7:38 AMtiny action of the day:
Skip the paper towel to dry hands after washing
Open door with foot pull
Either take a 3 minute leg stretch walk and airdry hands
or go back to my desk where I keep a hand towel to dry if I need to jump right back into work
paper towel saved
I only use a couple every week now instead of multiple a day
change happens when a lot of people do little things consistently every day
