Tricia 's actions
Health & Well-being
Reduce Refined Sugar
I will adopt a diet free of refined sugars, which eliminates sweetened beverages, candy, and processed foods.
Health & Well-being
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 30 minute(s) each day.
At Home
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
At Home
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.
At Home
Repair an Item
I will repair an item, such as clothing or an appliance, for myself, a friend, family member, or neighbor.
Health & Well-being
Healthy Hydration
I will improve hydration by drinking an additional 30oz of water each day. I will do this by drinking additional servings of water or by drinking water in place of other less healthy beverage options.
At Home
Choose LED Bulbs
I will replace 8 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Home Repair an ItemWhat was the last item you repaired? How did you do it and what was the outcome? What are your favorite resources for learning how to repair items yourself?
Tricia Walsh PHMG Vancouver 4/01/2024 1:30 PMI did repair my desk chair instead of buying another. The feet rest would never stay so I found a piece of PVC pipe I could wrap around the base of the chair to prevent the footrest from falling. I used an oscillating tool to cut about an inch out of the PVC so I could snap it around the base. It's not pretty but it serves its purpose. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Well-being Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Tricia Walsh PHMG Vancouver 4/01/2024 1:28 PMWhen the sun is out I plan on getting all my activity in the yard. I LOVE mowing and edging. So rewarding at the end. :) Same as weed pulling. Though 20 years ago I would have said no thank you to any of these!! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Home Needs Vs. WantsHow is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?
Tricia Walsh PHMG Vancouver 4/01/2024 1:26 PMWhile getting my garden ready I WANTED lots of pretty things from the garden center. I limited myself to 1 pretty annual bowl and then got some strawberry plants that will hopefully come back next year, along with Brussel sprouts and tomatoes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Well-being Reduce Refined SugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Tricia Walsh PHMG Vancouver 4/01/2024 1:24 PMThis is a super hard challenge once you really start looking at the ingredients to things!-
Karla Strand (SSC) 4/11/2024 2:21 PMI agree! It is a challenge, especially with all of that hidden sugar. Keep up the good work! It will get easier (that's what I tell myself, too).
