Emily's actions
At Home
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
Health & Well-being
Healthy Hydration
I will improve hydration by drinking an additional 8oz of water each day. I will do this by drinking additional servings of water or by drinking water in place of other less healthy beverage options.
At Home
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending food waste to the landfill by composting my food scraps.
Health & Well-being
Healthy Sleep
I will commit to getting 30 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
At Home
Whole Foods Diet
I will enjoy 1 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.
In Our Communities
Drive Less
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, or walking and biking instead.

REFLECTION QUESTIONIn Our Communities Drive LessHow has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Emily Westervelt 4/01/2024 7:48 AMI have never lived anywhere with good public transportation. We have a hybrid now, which makes me feel less guilty about taking short trips around town. Being conscious of use of the gas for long trips (where we need to use fuel) means we do not visit friends that live far away as often. Learning about how terrible air travel is for the environment has also reduced our interest in flying and I have tried to encourage my mother to reduce her flying as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Well-being Healthy HydrationHow do you plan to increase your water intake during the day?
Emily Westervelt 4/01/2024 7:45 AMI need to front load my water intake. Otherwise I find I have not consumed enough water at dinner time, and then it is too late to drink enough before bed.-
Lisa Kropp 4/01/2024 7:52 AMI do the same thing! I pre-fill 32oz in a bottle on my kitchen counter every morning and refill it at least once. the visual keeps me on track.
