The flowering trees are gorgeous this year! A trip through my neighborhood brings me so much joy because of all the colorful blossoms! Practicing gratitude like this always puts me in a better mood and helps me be more positive.

I agree, Emma. The vibrant colors of Spring are so uplifting. When my spirits are up, it's even easier to lift up others around me.

I am lucky to live in an area where water is safe and plentiful. That said, I have really strived to be mindful of how I use the water in my household and teach my children how to use water in a way that is not wasteful. For example, I have been talking to my children about taking shorter showers and turning off the water when brushing our teeth. There is so many little steps we can take each day to conserve water.

My Why is that the Planet is in need of individuals to care for Her future. It doesn't matter how you vote, where you live, where you worship, where you work, or how you play. I believe that everyone can have a vested interest in taking care of our Planet, even if it is in small ways. Creating sensible things such as provided by this Challenge makes sense for all people and all communities.

Does working with others toward a common cause motivate or inspire you to act differently than you otherwise would? How can collaboration lead to more sustainable outcomes?

I think collaboration is definitely inspiring! It's easy to get discouraged or feel like one little person "doesn't make a difference", but realizing that there are a lot of others working hard to make the world a better place helps you understand that a lot of small changes will add up, especially if we are supporting each other and sharing ideas!

Which of the 5 R's was easiest for you? Which was the most difficult? How did practicing the 5 R's help you reduce more waste than recycling alone?

Recycle was the easiest as I recycle everything that I am able to even if the smallest piece of paper. Reuse was hard but I got used to it as I now remember to wash items instead of tossing them right away.

    Why do you donate blood?

I donate blood because I am healthy enough to do it. My office is close to the blood donation center, and I schedule my appointment for 15 minutes after I leave work to make it convenient.
The phlebotomists and staff make me feel like a super star for donating. :)
I am O+ and the need for this blood donation is high because it is the most frequently occurring blood type (37% of the population).
Lastly, my deceased grandfather routinely gave blood, so it makes me feel close to him and proud. I donated yesterday ;)
