  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health & Well-being Learn About Constructive Communication
What is one way you would like to improve your communication skills? Why is constructive communication important at work and at home?

    Katie Tebbs's avatar
    Katie Tebbs 4/14/2024 2:25 AM
I would like to actually speak what is on my mind and not what I think people would like to hear. Constructive communication promotes different ways of thinking, which eventually makes teams more productive and creative. More importantly, it makes relationships between coworkers stronger by supporting open communication, active listening, and compromise, and by turning disagreements into chances to learn and grow.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
At Home Practice the 5 r's
Which of the 5 R's was easiest for you? Which was the most difficult? How did practicing the 5 R's help you reduce more waste than recycling alone?

    Katie Tebbs's avatar
    Katie Tebbs 4/14/2024 2:15 AM
Easiest -> recycle, we do that everyday. Hardest -> refuse, I can always find a reason to buy something.

I completely agree with you. I don't know how many times I walk into a store and talk myself into buying things that are not on my list especially when there are sales or after holiday discounts.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
At Home Learn the Truth about Expiration Dates
What did you learn about expiration dates? How do you reduce food waste at home? What are some additional ways you can reduce food waste?

    Katie Tebbs's avatar
    Katie Tebbs 4/09/2024 10:01 PM
The "sell by" date is primarily meant for retailers and specifies the latest day the goods should be sold. It guarantees that clients have adequate time to use the goods after purchasing. The "use by" and "best buy" date is the manufacturer's suggestion for the last date when the product is believed to be in its best quality.

Only getting the things we need helps my family waste less food, and at the end of the week, we eat leftovers from the meals during the week.

I agree! I use the date as a guide and then use the smell test. If it smells bad then it is bad...The date on egg cartons I totally disregard as refrigerated eggs seem to last a super long time.

This is great, Katie! This is what we are trying to do as well.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    At Home Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

    Katie Tebbs's avatar
    Katie Tebbs 4/09/2024 9:47 PM
The practice of creativity motivates mindfulness, which enables one to concentrate on what is genuinely important and prevents one from becoming weighed down by distractions that are not necessary. Through the practice of mindfulness, you can simplify your thoughts, behaviors, and routines that you do around the house.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    At Work Greener Purchasing
What green attributes do you look for when making purchasing decisions?

    Katie Tebbs's avatar
    Katie Tebbs 4/09/2024 9:18 PM
I look for products that are made from recycled materials.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    At Home Choose LED Bulbs
Switching out your lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! What other actions do you take to be more energy efficient at home?

    Katie Tebbs's avatar
    Katie Tebbs 4/05/2024 2:48 AM
I constantly tell my husband to turn lights off.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health & Well-being Less Screen Time
What did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?

    Katie Tebbs's avatar
    Katie Tebbs 4/05/2024 2:39 AM
I like to read so this challenge was quite easy, it just gave me a reason to read my book for longer. >.<
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    At Work Turn It Off
Was this action easy to add to your daily routine? Why or why not?

    Katie Tebbs's avatar
    Katie Tebbs 4/04/2024 3:45 AM
It was definitely not easy. I still need to work on it because I didn't do it every time.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
At Home Switch to Cold Water
How else can you reduce the environmental footprint of clothing and textiles?

    Katie Tebbs's avatar
    Katie Tebbs 4/04/2024 3:43 AM
I will buy less clothing and if I do need something, I will buy it from a donation center.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    In Our Communities Donate Items
Why is it important to consider how and to whom you donate your no-longer-needed items?

    Katie Tebbs's avatar
    Katie Tebbs 4/02/2024 10:20 PM
Donating gently used items helps keep the overfilled landfills from becoming even more harmful to our oceans. It also helps struggling families in need by reducing the prices of items so that they can afford essentials like clothing.
