At Work
Report a Leak
I will prevent water from being wasted by reporting one or more leaky faucets, toilets, or other water leaks to my organization's facilities team for repair.
Health & Well-being
Healthy Sleep
I will commit to getting 10 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
At Work
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
At Work
Use Reusables at Work
I will keep 3 forks, spoons, and/or knives from entering the landfill by using reusable utensils when eating at work.
At Home
Repair an Item
I will repair an item, such as clothing or an appliance, for myself, a friend, family member, or neighbor.
Health & Well-being
Healthy Hydration
I will improve hydration by drinking an additional 5oz of water each day. I will do this by drinking additional servings of water or by drinking water in place of other less healthy beverage options.
Health & Well-being
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 15 minute(s) each day.
At Home
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
At Home
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
One Healthcare
Strength in Numbers
I will form a new green team or healthcare sustainability group.
One Healthcare
Environmental Footprint of Healthcare
I will spend 45 minutes learning about the environmental footprint of the healthcare industry, how it impacts health, and ways I can help reduce it.
One Healthcare
Medical Device Reprocessing
I will spend 30 minutes learning about the items my organization collects for medical device reprocessing and share this information with colleagues.

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Home Repair an ItemWhat was the last item you repaired? How did you do it and what was the outcome? What are your favorite resources for learning how to repair items yourself?
Lyle Peterson 4/26/2024 7:06 AMI need to repair a light switch along with some touch up painting around the house this weekend. If you respect electricity and get the hang of it, you'll find it's as little as a $3 job. Sometimes it's a loose wire and just a little time. There are plenty of books and resources online. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONOne Healthcare Strength in NumbersDoes working with others toward a common cause motivate or inspire you to act differently than you otherwise would? How can collaboration lead to more sustainable outcomes?
Lyle Peterson 4/24/2024 6:05 AMIt does not inspire me to act differently, but it provides opportunities to utilize other tools and services I might not have known were available. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Home Switch to Cold WaterHow else can you reduce the environmental footprint of clothing and textiles?
Lyle Peterson 4/24/2024 6:00 AMDonating items as opposed to throwing them away. You don't necessarily need to wash clothes after every use. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Well-being Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Lyle Peterson 4/24/2024 5:50 AMOur Allina team rides provide a chance to catch up with each other while getting in some cardio. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Work Reduce Animal ProductsHow does eating more meat affect our planet and other people? What is your favorite meatless dish or recipe?
Lyle Peterson 4/24/2024 5:47 AMGreenhouse Gas Emissions: Livestock farming, particularly cattle, produces significant amounts of methane, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming.-
Kathryn Schroeder 4/24/2024 6:27 AMIt definitely depends on where your meat is coming from. Typical stockyards in America are definitely detrimental to the environment, whereas planned grazing can actually help sequester carbon out of the air and help plants to grow properly and abundantly. Something to think about as you shop for beef:)

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Home Needs Vs. WantsHow is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?
Lyle Peterson 4/24/2024 5:44 AMCreativity and simplicity might seem like opposites at first glance, but they're actually deeply intertwined, especially when it comes to practices like minimalism or simplifying one's life.
