Kathryn Schroeder 4/30/2024 6:42 AMIt's the last day of the Ecochallenge! I am beyond proud of this team and all we accomplished this month. It's amazing to see the growth from last year to this year and I hope to see even more growth next year. I will take the habit of daily gratitude with me after this challenge is over. It helps me to be more centered and have more grace for myself and others when I don't practice "perfect" sustainability. -
Kathryn Schroeder 4/29/2024 12:40 PMSuch a great article about Gabe Brown (a regenerative agriculture rancher from the documentary Kiss The Ground) - https://www.climateandcapitalmedia.com/regenerative-agriculture-the-business-that-could-offset-all-human-emissions/-
Sara Menvielle 4/29/2024 2:16 PMThanks for sharing! A very interesting read

Kathryn Schroeder 4/29/2024 6:28 AMTomorrow is the LAST DAY of this challenge! What are you hoping to accomplish before the end of the day tomorrow? -
Kathryn Schroeder 4/28/2024 4:31 PMWe are only a few days from the end of this challenge! What’s the biggest thing you’ve taken away from this activity? -
Kathryn Schroeder 4/26/2024 10:03 AMI'll be driving up the Brainerd/Nisswa area this weekend. Wondering if anyone has any tips for more eco-friendly road trips. I'm thinking whole food/compostable snacks for the drive...?-
Bethany Hatlevig 4/30/2024 8:39 AMOne big thing I try to do before heading out is make sure we have enough beverages for the road (non-alcoholic of course!!). We always bring our own cups, a thermos of coffee and a gallon jug of water from home so we aren't having to purchase bottles or single use cups at the convince stores. Not only is it eco friendly, but it is also way cheaper to bring from home!

REFLECTION QUESTIONOne Healthcare Sustainable HealthcareBriefly describe the issue(s) you learned about. How did this information impact you?
Kathryn Schroeder 4/25/2024 10:24 AMI learned that 25-30% of food produced globally is wasted. It's sad to think that of that food wasted, US health care institutions generate an estimated 23,500 tons of food waste each year. That's a lot of resources and money that is wasted. They also mentioned Scope 3 Green House Gas emissions - I'd like to learn more about what that is. -
Kathryn Schroeder 4/25/2024 6:28 AMWho else is LOVING this warm and sunny weather?! I'm definitely going to try to get a few steps in outside during my lunch break today!-
Bethany Hatlevig 4/25/2024 10:48 AMOooh, oooh, oooh.....pick me! I am loving it!! After lunch, I walked out to the courtyard to check out the garden space today. I hadn't been back there before. I am so excited to get planting soon!!

REFLECTION QUESTIONOne Healthcare Environmental Footprint of HealthcareWhat surprised you most about the healthcare industry's impact on climate and health? What is one action you can take to make a positive impact?
Kathryn Schroeder 4/24/2024 10:52 AMOn thing I learned is that although medical supplies that are recyclable, many times is not recycled properly and thus contributing to the overall waste of most hospitals. One way I can make a positive impact is by encouraging my coworkers to compost and recycle their food scraps and cafeteria items properly. Education is key. -
Kathryn Schroeder 4/24/2024 6:07 AMI've loved seeing everyone's reflections the last day or so on this feed! One thing I'm doing to keep my clothing impact low is making sure I am not purchasing any brand new clothing and mending the clothes I do have. I shop on ThredUp (an online thrift shop). It has saved me a lot of money and is a better choice for the planet. Click here if you want 45% off your first order on ThredUp: https://www.thredup.com/r/EJPDYW-
