  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    At Work
What have you found to be the biggest pros and cons of working from home?

    Crystal Shnitser's avatar
    Crystal Shnitser 4/23/2025 8:25 AM
Pros- not having to use gas, no commute, being home when my kids get home from school, I feel I am more productive when home because I am not chatting with people in the office

Cons-I guess not seeing people but I am ok with that lol
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    At Home
What did you learn about expiration dates? How do you reduce food waste at home? What are some additional ways you can reduce food waste?

    Crystal Shnitser's avatar
    Crystal Shnitser 4/23/2025 8:22 AM
I learned they are more like a best by date. We reduce food waste at home by only making enough food that we are able to eat. We always eat leftovers (up to 4 days old) and rarely ever throw any food away. Some additional ways I can reduce food waste is by buying only what we need so we don't forget that we have it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Well-being
How do you plan to increase your water intake during the day?

    Crystal Shnitser's avatar
    Crystal Shnitser 4/23/2025 8:19 AM
I only drink a cup of coffee in the morning for the whole day. I have been mixing fruit or electrolyte drink sticks in my 24 ounce cup of water. I have to finish it by the end of the day. I know this is still not enough water but I will hopefully work my way up to drink more.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    At Work
While one's plastic cutlery is a seemingly very small part of someone's "plastic impact", why do you think it's important for us to address this opportunity to reduce?

    Crystal Shnitser's avatar
    Crystal Shnitser 4/22/2025 3:10 AM
Even though it seems small it adds up if people use it every day. For myself and my children I pack normal cutlery that we use at home in their lunchboxes.

This is a great idea! I do this for myself as well.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    One Healthcare
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

    Crystal Shnitser's avatar
    Crystal Shnitser 4/22/2025 3:08 AM
We don't have barriers to using reusable water bottles. We use reusable cups and water bottles at home as well as my children bringing them to school. We have a well and drink water from our faucet.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    At Home
What other ways do you save energy and water at home? What has helped you make these changes part of your routine?

    Crystal Shnitser's avatar
    Crystal Shnitser 4/13/2025 8:36 AM
We don't use lights during the day, we just open up the curtains. We have an energy and water efficient dishwasher and washing machine. We don't let the water run when we are brushing our teeth or when we occasionally hand wash dishes. For our gardens and greenhouse we have rain barrels that we use for watering.

That’s awesome!! We had the windows opened today! I really want to make some rain barrels!! Did you make them yourself or buy them?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Why is it important to consider how and to whom you donate your no-longer-needed items?

    Crystal Shnitser's avatar
    Crystal Shnitser 4/13/2025 8:33 AM
I donate my children's clothes and toys to people in my community and my children's school. If no one needs or wants the items, then I bring them to Goodwill.
