REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Work Greener PurchasingWhat green attributes do you look for when making purchasing decisions?
Lindsay Taylor-PHSTJO 4/15/2024 5:19 PMRecyclability/reprocessability, washability, travel distance/local vendor options, and the amount of plastics/fossil fuels used in the products are all green attributes I look for when making purchasing decisions. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Work Use Reusables at WorkWhile one's plastic cutlery is a seemingly very small part of someone's "plastic impact", why do you think it's important for us to address this opportunity to reduce?
Lindsay Taylor-PHSTJO 4/08/2024 5:38 PMSmall plastic silverware really adds up in our landfills, on our beaches, and in our oceans - and we have compostable or reusable options that are readily available - let's just use those instead.-
James Howard (SW) 4/08/2024 11:26 PMWell said. I .ake sure to use the metal utensills in our breakroom but still need to have a set in the car for unplanned meals out.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Work Last to Leave? Lights Out, Please! How could you encourage your coworkers to develop the habit of turning lights off?
Lindsay Taylor-PHSTJO 4/08/2024 5:13 PMWhen we are going through the OR rooms at night shutting everything down I turn off the lights to indicate when we are done and let my coworkers know about the signal and how turning off lights saves on energy cost and usage, which is beneficial for the hospital and for our wild salmon.-
James Howard (SW) 4/09/2024 1:12 AMGreat job doing that. In the lab we can dim or turn off some of the lights in our cartroom, breakroom and compiter/sendout room.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Work Reduce Animal ProductsHow does eating more meat affect our planet and other people? What is your favorite meatless dish or recipe?
Lindsay Taylor-PHSTJO 4/01/2024 12:30 PMEating more meat contributes to climate change by increasing the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere and can also negatively contribute to stream and environmental health by increasing fecal coliform levels. One of my favorite meatless dishes is black bean enchiladas.
