My biggest pros of working from home are gaining back the time I would spend commuting, being able to cook for myself midday, and spending time with my cat. My biggest cons are not being able to see my co-workers face-to-face and having difficulty focusing when other people are home. I like to have a balance of in-office and at-home days!

It’s hard to find many local produce items at this time of year! Today I was able to find asparagus and radishes. Now I’m thinking a lot about which of the items on my plate are being grown out of season or far away, therefore requiring more resources to grow and transport?

Climate change creates and exacerbates health inequities by increasing our vulnerabilities to health issues. It increases our exposures, our sensitivities, and our abilities to adapt. One example of these changes in a group that is already carrying a disproportionate burden of health issues is farm workers. Climate change increases farm...

I have lived in recycling households my entire life. My hometown was an early adopter of municipal recycling. My parents are also quite eco-conscious, so they taught me how to properly recycle. Now, when I move to a new area, I print out the recycling guides and keep it taped near my bins for a few weeks to learn the rules. Recycling is...

Water pouring out the back door of a Varlamos Pizza at 7am. Restaurant is closed until 4pm, called Seattle Public Utilities.

I used to keep lights, bathroom fans, and my computer on all the time. Since starting this challenge, I've consistently remembered to shut off/putting to sleep my computer when done, and turning off the bathroom lights/fans. It's become easier for me to do when I take the time to do the action as soon as I am done using, even if I think I will...

Today I hemmed a pair of pants for a friend! She had received them from another friend of ours, so now these pants have passed through 3 hands to find their right fit. I alter clothes often for myself and my friends because I have a sewing machine. I learned how to use it as a child, from my grandmother and mother and I still look up tutorials...

This month I am focusing on repairing items I have, shopping secondhand, and trading skills with my community. So far I have purchased a coloring book and a puffy jacket to give as gifts to others, made a deal with a friend to hem her new jeans in exchange for her embroidering a pair of my shorts, and I plan to repair a pair of shoes I have...
